Scania is a leading supplier of solutions and services for sustainable transport in more than 100 countries and regions. We're providing the world's leading trucks, industrial and marine engines. In addition, we also offer various financial products and services.
Scania’s business in China can be traced back to the 1960s. From that time to the 1970s, the Chinese government purchased over 700 Scania trucks, which were mainly used for transporting heavy loads in areas like Da Hinggan Ling prefecture and Yunnan province. Another 200 or so trucks were sent to Tanzania to aid that country in the construction of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. Today, some of those trucks are still in use in the logging industry in Da Hinggan Ling.
Scania set up its first representative office in China in 1985, and later the Fufang (Hongkong) Company became Scania’s general sales agent in mainland China. In 2004, Scania resumed operations of its representative office. In 2007, Scania Sales (China) Limited was founded with the independent import operation rights that allowed it to bring in finished automobiles and parts. Based on its confidence in the market and its strategy of laying down roots in China for long-term development, Scania set up its strategy center in China in 2010. 2013 marked another milestone for Scania in China with the inauguration of a role model workshop in Guangzhou – the first captive dealer in China. With the rapid development and business requirement, Scania China head office was moved to shanghai in 2016
