The Sheriff’s Office is made up of over 30 divisions and units that include sworn and non-sworn positions along with hundreds of volunteers. These divisions belong to three bureaus within the Sheriff’s Office: Investigative Services Bureau, Field Operations Bureau and Custody Bureau. The Investigative Services Bureau consists of the Detective Division, Coroner’s Unit, Special Operations Section, Civil Enforcement Division, Court Security, Property Office, and Administrative Services. The Field Operations Bureau consists of Patrol Divisions, Patrol Headquarters and Auxiliary units such as Search and Rescue, Posse, Aero Squadron, Dive Team, and Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteer Patrol. The Custody Bureau consists of the Jail, Honor Farm, and Court Transportation. As the largest law enforcement agency in the County, the Sheriff’s Office provides service to all unincorporated areas of San Luis Obispo County.
