Saffron Sheffield changes lives by providing free, confidential counselling, psychotherapy & group support to women in Sheffield who are survivors of abuse & trauma.
Our work was established in 1988 by a small group of volunteers who were concerned about the lack of accessible and affordable therapy services for women in Sheffield, particularly women who had experienced sexual abuse.
Over the decades we have developed as a specialist provider of trauma therapy,
hosting trauma-focused training events and supporting volunteer therapists to develop their skills in working with complex trauma.
In recent years public awareness of abuse has grown, the stigma around mental health issues has decreased, and high profile institutional abuse cases have hit the headlines. We continue to receive a high volume of clients who are signposted from other counselling charities, community mental health teams, social workers and GPs. It is clear that we are in an era of disclosure, where increasing numbers of survivors are reaching out for help to deal with the abuse and trauma that has often had a devastating impact on their lives.
Together with your support we can help women survivors to process their experiences and discover that there is life beyond trauma.
