We are a new agri-business aiming to produce high quality citrus and cheese in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, while bringing a positive impact to the local community and preserving a piece of East African wilderness on a commercially viable basis.
The plan is to import quality seedlings of a range of modern citrus varieties that are most likely to produce a crop that meets market demands. Based on the experience of this trial, the goal is to be able to make locally-adapted quality seedlings available to Tanzanian farmers and thereby enable Tanzanian production of quality citrus both for the domestic and export markets.
To make use of the green cover crops of the citrus orchards we will run a dairy herd in the inter-rows and process the milk to cheese for the Tanzanian hospitality sector. At the same time the pastured cows will contribute towards the diversity and soil health of the orchards and increase the rate of carbon sequestration.
A love for wild places is at the core of our operations and more than 95 % of the land is completely set aside for conservation and restoration. The sable antelope population will function as one of the indicators of our success.
