Smit (It And Development Centre At The Estonian Ministry Of The Interior)

IT and Development Centre at the Estonian Ministry of the Interior (SMIT) started operations on 1 March 2008 with the purpose of rendering information and communication technology (ICT) services to the Estonian Ministry of the Interior and its administrative field. Our mission is to create within the Ministry´s administrative area a development environment where internal security institutions would cooperate with SMIT to devise and develop applications necessary for providing internal security services. SMIT ensures the operation of ICT services for the Estonian Ministry of the Interior, The Police and Border Guard Board (PPA), The Rescue Board and the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences by supporting the provision of public and vital services to the Emergency Centre.
