Sheatufim was established in 2006 by philanthropists and social entrepreneurs from Israel, Europe and the United States. The organization was founded on a shared vision of creating a pluralistic and active civil society, which will bring together social organizations, government ministries and philanthropy in Israel.
From day one, it has been our belief that in order to make significant social change in society, we must encourage the three sectors (government, business and social) to collaborate and provide them with the professional tools needed to do so.
We strive to create a profound change of awareness among senior executives and decision makers, and motivate them to move from an “Ego-System” concept of independent action, where each organization works alone to achieve its goals, to an “Eco-System” concept, where organizations from the three sectors work together to change social reality.
In the last decade, we have operated by utilizing two main action strategies: Collective Impact and Public Participation Processes in government ministries. In this context, we led cross-sector initiatives to address systemic and chronic problems in Israeli society, and provided support to many government offices, including the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the State Comptroller, in decision-making processes and policy formulation.
We act to promote the Collective Impact approach in Israel and apply it in practice as a model for solving complex social problems. Sheatufim is currently the backbone organization of three collective impact initiatives: in the field of STEM excellence in education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), in the arena of combating gender-based violence in the family, and the issue of loneliness and quality of life of the elderly in the community.
