Were you ever a Star Trek fan? If so, perhaps you can remember the incredible Tricorder device that was used to instantly monitor crew members' health and even identify adverse medical conditions and diseases. Now if you were absent (or didn't exist yet) during the Star Trek craze and have no idea what we are talking about, luckily we live in the age of unlimited media access; simply take a trip to YouTube. Who are we you ask? In a nutshell, we're a multidisciplinary team composed of students and faculty from San Diego State University's business, engineering, health and human sciences, and education departments, as well as various partners around San Diego including think tanks, research institutes, and biotech firms. In its time, the Star Trek Tricorder was nothing more than a clever sci-fi creation... but imagine for a moment if it were more. Imagine if the power of knowledge pertaining to the most priceless aspect of our lives, our health, was in reality placed in our palms. This is exactly what the X-Team is doing. This is our reality.
