Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod is Australia's premier Eisteddfod, promoting, fostering and encouraging participation, enjoyment and enrichment through the performing arts.
The Royal South Street Society ((RSSS) is Australia’s oldest and longest running Eisteddfod, first established in 1891. Since then over one million aspiring performing artists have had the opportunity to shine on the RSSS Eisteddfod stage, leaving a little piece of their heart in the beautiful regional city of Ballarat.
The RSSS Ballarat Eisteddfod runs from July to November each year and includes 14 theatrical disciplines of voice, music, and movements, providing some 40,000+ on-stage performance opportunities for artists from all over Australia. Performers have the opportunity to appear on the stunning historical Her Majesty’s Theatre stage as well as other quality venues throughout our region.
The Royal South Street Society is a not for profit organisation overseen by the RSSS Board. The RSSS Ballarat Eisteddfod is managed by a small office team and supported by assisted by over 200+ volunteers. The total voluntary input to stage the Eisteddfod annually equates to around 18,000 hours and the Eisteddfod contributes approximately 14 million per year to the local economy.
We are extremely grateful for the additional funding that comes from generous sponsors, businesses, local and state government, individuals and families, committee, and volunteers. As well as major sponsors, many individuals also sponsor sections close to their hearts.
