Rotary Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service by uniting leaders from all continents, cultures, and occupations to exchange ideas and take action in communities around the world.
By turning conversations into actions, connecting like minded people & partnering both business & community organisations, Rotarians for over a 100 years have accepted the challenges of tackling the worlds most pressing humanitarian needs. Important projects are undertaken in peace & conflict resolution, disease prevention & treatment, water & sanitation, maternal & child health, basic education & literacy & economic & community development.
Rotary District 9800 is in Victoria & a small part of New South Wales, Australia. It covers part of the Melbourne Metropolitan area, stretching into the north-west to include Bendigo, and reaching as far north as Echuca on the Murray. It is approximately 250km north to south and approximately 120km west to east at its widest point. Currently there are 70 Clubs, each meeting weekly with memberships ranging from 12 to over 200.
It is the area in Victoria surrounded by and including the shires of and cities of Rochester, Huntly, Marong, Maldon, Newstead, Daylesford and Glenlyon, Kyneton, Bacchus Marsh, Werribee, Altona, Williamstown, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, St. Kilda, Brighton, Caulfield, Malvern, Gisborne, Newham and Woodend, McIvor and Waranga plus that part of the Shire of Deakin, New South Wales, within a twenty-kilometre radius of the Echuca post office.
