Roedean School is a membership charity. Its governing body (board of trustees) is Council. The Charity’s members are known as ‘Governors’. Council is responsible for the management and oversight of Roedean (not Roedean’s Governors).
Council (comprising the Charity’s Councillors) delegates the day-to-day running of the School to Roedean’s Senior Leadership Team.
Roedean has a unique governance structure, enshrined in its Royal Charter granted in 1938, including that the Charity’s members (Governors) elect a number of Councillors.
The majority of the Charity’s c. 3,700 Governors are Old Roedeanians (ORs). Not all ORs, however, are Governors. There are over 7,000 alumnae in the active Old Rodeanians’ Association (ORA).
