Built in 1994, the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center is a 1,074-seat theatre located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. The stage area was modeled after the David H. Koch Theater (formerly the New York State Theater) at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and can accommodate large or small performing ensembles, film screenings, concerts, conferences and other special events.
Each season the Carpenter Center presents a variety of music, dance, family, comedy, and cabaret events, as well as commissions new works by some of the country’s leading artists and ensembles. With world premieres, Broadway favorites, and world-class artists, the Carpenter Center has something for everyone.
