Rhode Island Academic Decathlon promotes academic excellence through a multi-discipline curriculum that complements state standards. The RIAD competition offers awards, scholarships, and recognition for each student's achievement and participation, as a team and individually. RIAD engages students of all learning levels, promotes higher level thinking skills, fosters personal growth while encouraging teamwork and develops critical 21st century workforce skills, including critical thinking, communication, time management, persistence and collaboration. RIAD is open to public, private and parochial high schools in the state of Rhode Island. In 2016, over 150 volunteers supported the program while over 170 high school students participated on 15 teams.
