Reuben's Retreat is a registered charity in the North West of England. We were born from the tragic loss of Reuben Michael Graham at just 23 months old from an inoperable brain tumour. Our mission is to provide practical, social and emotional support to families who have a child living with medical complexities and families of child loss. We provide peer led monthly support groups, holistic therapies, meditation evenings, weekend rambles and one to one counselling for parents and siblings as well as regular music, art and animal therapy, bespoke memory making events and respite breaks for children with additional needs, complex illnesses and limited life spans. We are a small team with a big vision supported by an army of volunteers.
In 2014, we purchased Woods Hospital on Howard Park, Glossop and have been renovating in stages ever since. In 2017, we completed the first 3 phases, ‘The Lodge at Reuben’s’ and our counselling & bereavement support centre opened. we have recently completed phases 4 to 6, our 'activity wing'. A fully accessible facility housing a hydrotherapy pool with changing suite, sensory room with cinema area and playroom with chill zone. The remaining phases will include 3 fully accessible apartments and two upper floor apartments for families to create special memories together.
Our ambitious build project when finished, will be our forever home, a safe haven for families to access our support.
