The Responsible Tourism Alliance was established to level the playing field for locally owned micro & small sized tourism enterprises in an industry monopolised by big business - effectively limiting market access and product diversity.
We challenge these issues by providing a non-commission based booking alternative, and low-cost market access to unlimited unique and rewarding travel experiences through our vertical search and booking system.
The RTA is an innovative social enterprise, which seeks to:
● Share the benefits and rewards of tourism more equitably, where both customer and provider benefit from reduced costs, as well as have the opportunity to invest in the development of communities involved in the visitor experience.
● Offer skills development workshops, which empower visitor-based economies to develop sustainable local industry, through the provision of ethical funding, support networks, and alternative revenue stream potential.
● Provide a unique vertical search database of diverse tourism-related products and services for our Travel Ambassadors to experience.
● Give an opportunity for local businesses to be represented in a market at affordable rates, which have otherwise been inaccessible to them due to big business control. This grants them exposure to travellers who have, until now, never been given the chance to enjoy what they have had on offer.
● Encourage the gradual adoption of our RTA Best Practices through a user-friendly system, which congratulates progression, and enables our Business Partners Partners to attract custom from our Travel Ambassadors.
● Cultivate leaders in responsible tourism who, conscious of their impact on communities and the environment both as tourists and residents, will work towards responsible, sustainable development.
● Take the pressure off destinations impacted by over-tourism - breathing more life into them, extending their longevity and maintaining their quality whilst they adapt to changing markets.
● Enable local customs and cultures in and around tourist destinations to present themselves as a part of the global community, worthy of preservation and appreciation in today’s context.
