Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety Laboratory, better known as RAMS Laboratory is a part of the Department of Marine Engineering, Faculty of Marine Technology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya. To realize the mission of the Department of Marine Engineering (DMarE) as a source and network for the educational and research activities in the field of Marine Engineering, research is one of the front lines of the department's main focus. Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) Laboratory focuses on research related to the reliability and safety of the marine structure, subsea pipelines, and cables. From here the marine accident can be reduced by risk assessment.
RAMS Laboratory officially established since 1997 for academic activities and research in the Department of Marine Engineering, Faculty of Marine Technology. Activities in this laboratory also conducted by several professors in various fields related to the field of Ship safety and reliability, Doctors in the field of risk management, safety engineering, geotechnical dan marine engineering. This laboratory also has project assistants, Doctorate student candidates, and students from Bachelor and Master's Degree. By having various member inside this lab, it gives the best result of research and public service in terms of the quality, on-time management, and the application.
Currently, RAMS Laboratory is becoming one of the centre of research and academic activities in Marine technology. RAMS Laboratory also has been acknowledged as a Research center in the field of risk and safety of Maritime in Indonesia.
For research activity, the laboratory has been working together with Kobe University-Japan, The University of Tokyo-Japan, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME R&D), PGN (R&D), SKKMigas, BPPT, STTAL Surabaya, and other prominent institutions and companies.
