Reducing the Risk was founded in 2004 as a domestic abuse charity based in Oxfordshire. We work with partner organisations including the police, children's services, health workers and local councils to reduce the risk of adults and children who are affected by domestic abuse and violence.
We provide Oxfordshire’s Independent Domestic Violence Advice (IDVA) service for victims at high risk and our work now reaches across the Thames Valley and beyond.
We have won national and regional awards for our "Domestic Abuse Champions" (DA Champions) training and our community has now expanded to over 5000 champions. Our Champions vary from frontline staff to active individuals who work together in community to provide support and advice to victims, ensuring they don’t have to go from one agency to another in order to get the help they need.
Reducing the Risk advocates for good information sharing and clear pathways to specialists with the experience and authority to keep victims safe. We emphasise recognising risk early on to ensure those affected by abuse are supported from their very first contact, through change, to recovery, and transforming their lives.
