The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was set up on 21st June, 1991, to realize former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's dream for India. By upholding the principles that were dear to him, and concentrating our work in areas he deemed to be of the utmost importance, we seek to keep alive the legacy he bequeathed us.
Rajiv Gandhi was a humanitarian above all. His years as Prime Minister of India were rich in initiatives, policy decisions and actions on almost all aspects of governance. Over the past 24 years the foundation has been able to make a meaningful impact over Rajiv Gandhi's entire range of interests. The foundation has adopted a supplemental, catalytic approach to help deliver impactful results by funding causes and programmes over wide range of issues.
The foundation has been working in the areas of literacy, health, disability, science and technology, empowering the underprivileged, women empowerment and child development, promoting excellence in aviation, natural resource management, creating livelihood, youth leadership, disaster management and Cultural development among others.
