Rain Systems patented technology, the Precision Injection Machine, uses computer controlled water injection to implant hydrogel into existing turf, reducing irrigation by up to 50%. Hydrogel increases the water retention capacity of soil, absorbing water normally lost in drainage and evaporation, storing it and slowly releasing it back into the soil as needed. This leads to a 50% reduction in irrigation requirements while keeping the soil and turf hydrated and healthy. The hydrogel is EPA tested, 100% biodegradable and is effective up to 3 years.
Since becoming a portfolio company at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator in 2016, Rain Systems implemented pilots at CalState University Northridge, City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and Los Angeles Unified School District. We were awarded an Innovative Conservation Program grant from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California in 2018 for expanded pilots with City of LA, as well as publishing 2 case studies for our initial pilots.
In 2018, Rain Systems was 1 of 16 companies selected into the Quake Capital Partners Accelerator Program in Los Angeles for the Summer Cohort. Taking the company to the next level with funding for manufacturing and investment opportunities.
