Its principals have extensive and diverse backgrounds including hedge fund, advisory and principal investment experience, and have acted as a principal or agent on transactions with a combined value of over $4.0 billion. The RM Capital business principals are grounded in the premise that finding innovative, capital markets-driven solutions to real estate challenges of all kinds is what we do best. The firm is focused around its investment banking activities, including capital advisory, debt and equity financing, restructurings, recapitalizations and loan sales. RM Capital's merchant banking activities include its opportunistic investments in select real estate, mortgage and private equity transactions. Founded in 2009 by Romano Tio and Marc Sznajderman, who had worked together for the previous five years, RM Capital began as the successor to a credit-focused commercial real estate strategy which the two Founding Principals managed at a multibillion-dollar hedge fund in New York. After leaving the fund in March 2009, RM Capital was set up to asset manage the strategy's portfolio of legacy assets on behalf of the fund. The firm's current focus is to use the principals deep real estate and capital markets experience to deliver excellent execution for its capital markets clients and unique investment opportunities for its asset management clients.
