REN 96 Swim Team is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2016 after being formed in September 1996 by the amalgamation of three existing swimming clubs: Renfrew District ASC, Eastwood ASC and Neilston ASC.
Supported by East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire Councils the club is now one of Scotland’s premier swimming clubs. The club has competed with distinction at West District, National and National Age Group Championships, and has had representatives on the Scottish Youth Squad, Scottish Junior and Senior Elite Squads, International Masters Championships, at the Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games.
The Club’s home is at the On-x in Linwood but also utilises pools around the two regions including Nielston, Erskine and Barrhead. Whilst it is a Competitive swim club there are also squads which allow for just staying fit as well as a Masters Squad, Water Polo and Synchronised Swimming squads.
The Club is run by a Committee including Membership, Finance, Child Protection and the Head Coach. But is also the army of other parent volunteers who make the Club run with Technical Officials, Team Managers, Squad Secretaries and those that help with our meets.
The Club couldn’t do it without all these people and we would encourage all parents to get involved.
