The Queensland Integrity Commissioner is an independent officer of the Queensland Parliament, and a statutory officer holder, who is responsible for implementing the Integrity Act 2009 (Qld). The Office of the Queensland Integrity Commissioner was formally established under the Integrity Act on 1 March 2023.
The functions of the Queensland Integrity Commissioner are to:
• provide ethics and integrity advice to Queensland Members of Parliament, Ministers, Statutory Officers, public sector chief executives and others who meet the definition of ‘designated person’ under the Integrity Act
• provide ethics and integrity advice to Queensland Members of Parliament on issues that specifically concern the register of members’ interests, or the register of related persons’ interests, kept under the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001
• set conduct standards for registered lobbyists operating within Queensland
• regulate lobbyist activity and maintain the Queensland Lobbying Register
• raise public awareness of ethics and integrity matters
• on request of the Queensland Premier, provide advice on standard setting for ethics or integrity issues.
