Our Objectives:
1. Keeping students aware of changes in the accounting profession and tailoring our events accordingly.
This goal is particularly relevant with the changes seen with Canadian accounting designations. With a new designation emerging in Quebec and the potential for changes to Ontario’s accounting bodies, we aim to keep the Queen’s student body aware of the potential effect these changes could have on their career path.
2. Growing our committee and its offerings with the expansion of the Queen’s Commerce Program.
The Commerce program at Queen’s is expanding. Goodes Hall, home to the Queen’s School of Business is undergoing an incredible expansion to house the growing program. As such, the QAA must grow with student population to ensure that students in years to come will have the necessary resources to pursue a career in accounting.
3. Increasing students’ awareness of the growing variety of opportunities in the accounting industry.
In order to ensure that the growing Commerce program at Queen’s is able to offer its students an opportunity to obtain employment upon graduating, additional job opportunities need to be found. It is our job to showcase the incredible talent that Commerce students have to offer potential employers.
