Puerto Baru will be the only multi-model feeder port on the Pacific Side of Panama that will serve the Chiriquí Province of Panama. The Chiriquí Province is the fastest growing region in South and Central America and is home to the City of David and City of Boquete. This growth has been from both, Panamanians and foreigners from all over the world with a vast majority coming from the United States, Canada and Venezuela.
Our Port is located in Chiriquí Province, located on the border with Costa Rica which is experiencing rapid growth with large numbers of habitants, from Costa Rica traveling tot he City of David to shop for goods and services on a daily basis. The vast majority of agricultural goods consumed in Panama and neighboring countries, come from the Chiriquí region.
Currently, all inbound and outbound goods, travel via truck on the Pan American Highway, from Panama City to David, which is a seven hour drive totaling approximately 600 kilometres. Having these goods (containers, fuel, grain, bulk), shipped to David vs trucking will drastically cut costs.
