Project Qadira aims to uplift such explicit and implicit barriers- explicit being the lack of provision of sanitary pads; implicit being the various myths and taboos sitting around periods. Through the supply of cotton pads to those who belong to perhaps the economically weaker sections of society; not only are factors such as hygiene and safety being targeted; but also a more environmentally mindful approach is being taken towards what contributes to a massive amount of plastic deposition on an annual basis.
Moreover, the stigma around an active and healthy discussion around menstruation is often stamped out due to pre-existing, long-embedded cultural and historical notions. Keeping it a simultaneous aim, we hope to bring forth such conversations that enable the placement of a more open-minded, inclusive approach to an ever so healthy, necessary, and natural process.
