Project Paddington has been developed by a group of Sheffield mums for children in response to the growing humanitarian crisis amongst refugees and displaced people.
Our strapline is 'children helping children'. The project began with children sending their own teddy bears with messages of welcome to refugees. It has now grown into a fundraising project with teddy selfies, teddy bears' picnics, cake sales and other events.
We have 560 schools and groups registered to donate teddies and expect between 20,000 and 30,000 teddies to be delivered to refugee camps and organisations working with refugees in this way. The teddy bears were sponsored on their journeys and the financial donations will be used to help refugees on the ground.
We are looking to connect with businesses that could donate financially to the project or help with the logistics of delivering aid and teddies to projects working with refugees in the UK and to refugee camps abroad. We would also like to hear from professionals working with teenagers and youth as we look to launch phase 2 of our project, which aims to engage secondary school students to make a difference to the current humanitarian crisis.
