The Prevention Research Center at Washington University in St. Louis (PRC at WashU) explores and addresses behaviors that place people at risk for chronic diseases, like obesity, cancer and diabetes by:
• Conducting, evaluating and disseminating innovative, community-based research,
• Providing training to enhance skills of public health practitioners, and
• Translating research findings into practice and policy.
Current research areas include physical activity, policy, the built environment, and the translation of evidence into public health practice, while placing emphasis on vulnerable populations. Since its establishment in 1994, the PRC at WashU has brought together national and international academic, practice, and community partners.
