We provide people affected by intellectual or physical disabilities opportunities for physical fitness. We have 3 programs to keep folks moving - Our Wingman Program, Handcycle Program and Adapted Fitness program give people with disabilities many options to stay active and healthy. Most of our programs are free to the participants.
Wingman program - allows assisted athletes (those with disabilities) to participate in local running races using provided adapted equipment and the assistance of able bodied runners called Wingmen. Those with intellectual or developmental disabilities often participate by walking or walk/running with their Wingman acting as a buddy or guide to get them safely through a race.
Handcycle program - allows people with disabilities to explore the sport of handcycling. We provide the handcycles to try out and skills and safety instruction. We offer monthly group rides for people to hone their skills in a casual environment and build their miles. And the opportunity to race as part of the Powered to Move team in local races. Beginners to more Advanced Cyclist are welcome.
Adapted Fitness Program - connects Personal and Group Fitness trainers to individuals and groups with disabilities. We fund blocks of training so people with disabilities can work on functional fitness, build a plan for lifelong fitness and live more independently. The trainers in our next workout provide individual training to adapted bootcamps throughout our community.
