The Portuguese Society of Microbiology is a non-profitable organization, funded in 1973 and today representing more than 200 PhD’s and 100 MSc and PhD students, belonging to the main Portuguese Universities, State Laboratories, and Research Institutes. The Portuguese Society of Microbiology main objectives are to promote and to develop research and teaching activities in Portugal, as well as to disseminate the importance of Microbiology to the general society, facilitating communication between Microbiologists. All main areas of microbiology (Health, Environment, Industry) are represented in the society activities.
