Policlinico San Donato University & Research Hospital is one of the top centers of Gruppo San Donato (Italy’s largest hospital group, with over 4.7 million patients yearly and a turnover of more than 1.6 billion euros), as well as home of the Degree in Medicine and Surgery, in collaboration with Università degli Studi di Milano.
The same man that has laid the foundation of GSD, Dr. Luigi Rotelli, has founded the policlinic in 1969, in the city of San Donato Milanese. Covering more than 50,000 square meters and located in the South-East part of Milan, the multi-specialty healthcare center is one of the most renowned cardiovascular Centers of excellence in Italy today, being the facility that has provided the largest number of cardiac surgeries in the country (over 1500 per year).
Among the various awards it has received over the years, the Italian Ministry of Health awarded the hospital with the prestigious title of a Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care (IRCCS) for its study in the area of diseases of the heart and blood vessels in adults and children. Policlinico San Donato is at the same time home of the Institute of Medical and Surgical Sciences and the Interdepartmental Center for the Study and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases "Edmondo Malan" (the second most renowned cardiovascular disease Center in the world).
By putting the well-being of the patients and citizens at the core of its philosophy, and using its unique and enviable know-how, Policlinico San Donato continues to carry out its mission: guaranteeing its patients the highest level of competence and excellence. Likewise, while maintaining high standards of quality and usability of services, it pursues with passion three important goals: Personalization of Care, Efficiency and Quality of Care, and Organization in Advanced Technologies Management.
