The Department of Psychology was inaugurated in 1964 under the leadership of Late H.C. Ganguli. Currently, the Department is headed by Dr. Anand Prakash and offers two specialisations- Clinical Psychology and Organisational Psychology. Students at the Department alongside building a strong theoretical base, are also given practical knowledge of the field through a series of practicals, fieldwork and workshops designed for this purpose. Placement Cell at the Department of Psychology, University of Delhi has been established with the vision of ensuring the professional progress of students through integrating the career issues within an academic environment for realising their best possible career path and making them globally employable in this competitive era. Its secondary responsibilities include organising trainings, workshops and peer support groups for the students.
