Perkins Center for the Arts is recognized by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as a Major Presenting Organization and has received a Citation of Excellence, for arts programs that promote participation, understanding, and communication among diverse audiences. The Center presents free and fee-based arts programs which support and expand relationships with artists, students, members, donors and new audiences in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester Counties and the greater Delaware Valley region. Perkins Center was incorporated in 1977 and is housed in a historic 1910 Tudor home and carriage house. In 2002, the Center expanded to a second facility in Collingswood, NJ.
The Center has developed strong community-based arts programs for the audiences we serve with a special focus in the city of Camden. Perkins Center's community-based programs are built on partnerships with organizations that have a complementary vision of the importance of the arts for individuals as well as the arts importance in the building of communities. Perkins Center strives to enrich lives and inspire learning, collaboration, interdisciplinary and intercultural experiences through the arts. We believe that quality arts experiences, made available to all members of society, have the power to transform people's lives and bring about positive change.
