As a rapidly growing division within Parkwood Holdings plc, Parkwood Theatres has an annualised turnover of £10m; already operating four theatre facilities in England.
Parkwood Leisure secured its first dedicated theatre venue in April 2011 at the Playhouse in Weston-super-Mare, whilst simultaneously taking on full responsibility for the management of the neighbouring Winter Gardens. A third venue, The Hawth Theatre, was awarded to the company in February 2012 by Crawley Borough Council.
Having secured these two management contracts, that each span a ten-year period, a strategic decision was made to create the Parkwood Theatres brand.
Parkwood Theatres’ number of venues increased to four subsequent to securing the 15-year contract to operate the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone; the contract commenced with Maidstone Borough Council on the 1st October 2013.
The aim & ambition of Parkwood Theatres is to grow our portfolio of public sector venues, supporting councils to reduce the cost of arts & culture provision in their respective localities. This will be achieved working in partnership with local government to increase admissions, the quality of the programme and participation at venues.
