The Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA) is a statutory body that is responsible for marketing Papua New Guinea as a desirable tourist destination. It is made up of three main divisions; Corporate Services, Policy & Planning and Marketing & Research.
PNGTPA is constituted by an Act of Parliament - Tourism Promotion Authority Act 1993.
As a consequence of its legislative responsibilities, PNGTPA has established the following corporate objectives:
*To increase the number, length of stay and expenditure of visitors in Papua New Guinea;
*To increase tourism products, accommodation and necessary infrastructure to support and encourage increased tourism;
*To minimize the negative impacts of increased tourism on Papua New Guinea culture and environment.
