Latest review by the Dominicana Gourmet: Comendador Lanceo 2010 Like most “Puros de Hostos selections, the Comendador Lancero, is a highly attractive cigar that has impeccable construction. The wrapper has a rich chocolate color with a slight oily sheen that is noticeable with the naked eye. Hardly any veins are present and the cigar feels well-packed and as smooth as can be. It also has a pigtail cap. There are two decorative bands, ( one is personalized with your name) that add a classy touch to the overall appearance of the Lancero. The top band is large and oval in shape. It displays the de Hostos name in gold lettering. The second, red band sits right beneath Before lighting, the cigar has an earthy flavor and its scent is spicy. Just like its appearance, the burn of the Comendador Lancero is flawless. The draw is just right, and solid white ash is produced. The burn stays even without the need for any touch-ups. The cigar also stays lit on its own until the very end. Not having to maintain the burn allows you to fully enjoy and savor this full flavoured cigar. Speaking of savouring, this is one cigar where a lot of that goes on, as the flavours are very rewarding. Spicy notes blended with rich pure cacao chocolate kick things off. A very tasty nutty flavour eventually comes in, as does cedar. Earthy notes also become noticeable, and a extremely smooth, creamy flavour helps add to the overall experience.
