The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) of Malaysia was established in 1971 under the Ministry of Human Resources (formerly known as Ministry of Labour) with the aim to administer, enforce and implement the Employees’ Social Security Act, 1969.
SOCSO provides benefits through its Employment Injury Insurance Scheme and the Invalidity Pension Scheme. Among the many functions undertaken by SOCSO is registering employer/employees, collection of employers/employee contributions, processing and disbursing claims made by salaried employees and their dependants. In addition SOCSO also provides physical and vocational rehabilitation benefits to claimants and promotes occupational safety and health awareness.
