The Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) believes that every child deserves a great educator—and over the past 40 years we have worked in Colorado and across the nation to prepare outstanding new teachers; help practicing educators become exceptional; and shape policies that foster vibrant growth and lasting student success.
Students thrive when educators are well-prepared and supported in continuous improvement, however, many efforts to develop teachers are one-size-fits-all approaches that simply are not effective. PEBC works alongside school districts, school leaders and educators to design systemic professional learning opportunities that are responsive to unique needs. Because of this personalization, the educators we serve see results with both students and staff that once seemed unattainable.
Too often teachers leave the classroom after a short time in the field, which disproportionately affects the quality of education received by students in high-need areas. PEBC’s teacher residency is a hands-on licensure program that recruits, trains and retains high-quality educators across Colorado—through this program, PEBC has prepared more than 1,000 educators and boasts a 95 percent five-year retention rate among its teachers.
