OWLSS is a student society at Oxford University that promotes gender equality and diversity in the legal profession. We host thought-provoking speaker events, panel discussions and workshops to inspire the next generation of legal professionals and to celebrate the exceptional achievements of women, non-binary, and transgender people in the law. We aim to create a diverse and inclusive networking community for women and people of other underrepresented gender identities to connect, share experiences and support each other in building ambitious careers in the legal world.
The founding of the society coincides with the 100 year anniversary of the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919, which made it possible for women to qualify as barristers or solicitors in the UK.
