Oxford University Racing is a team of undergraduate students from the University of Oxford that aims to build an electric race-car – from scratch – to compete in the annual IMechE Formula Student competition. With members coming from across the student body and across the world we are a highly passionate and ambitious team; whilst engineers make up the majority of our technical division, we encourage students from any subject to apply for roles in operations.
The project is entirely student run with the emphasis being put on undergraduates to run every part of the team.
On the operations side we have positions in Marketing, Sponsorship and Business whilst technical sub-teams include Chassis, Battery, and Electronics amongst others; it is a great opportunity for students to gain some practical experience whilst still completing their degree. We hold a three hour workshop every Saturday afternoon and most sub-teams have an additional meeting during the week; in the early stages these workshops focus on design and planning but as we move closer to the competition, the technical teams will begin building the car. We are working towards competing in both static events, such as a business presentation, and dynamic events, which will test the limits of the car, at the Formula Student competition.
