The Oxford China Policy Lab is a non-partisan group of researchers based at the University of Oxford. Our mission is two-fold. First, we are dedicated to providing data-driven and policy relevant analysis on issues regarding US-China relations and its impact on the rest of the world. We seek to move beyond ideological tropes and exclusively Western- or Sino-centric approaches to promote a nuanced discourse on China, bringing in local expertise across a range of global theaters to address questions of international importance. Second, we are committed to training the next generation of China specialists by helping undergraduate and graduate students develop China-related expertise through first-hand research experience.
Our group has worked in academia, in multiple foreign ministries, for a range of think tanks and NGOs, and in the private sector. We have been raised around the world and educated in some of the top universities in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. Our team covers a range of academic backgrounds, including China studies, politics and international relations, economics, and internet studies. Our lab is funded by the Balliol Interdisciplinary Institute at Oxford.
