Follow the Restoration of a Qld Historical Town Centre located 1 hour and 20 mins west of Toowoomba.
Koorong - Indigenous names meaning resting place for birds and
Garra - meaning watering hole
Established in 1905 as the Kooroongarra Co-operative - producing cheddar cheese for local and international markets until 1955.
The town once had a General Store (burnt down) A Cheese Factory, Post Office and Telephone exchange, Butcher Shop and Cheese Factory Managers Residence.
Suzy Shepherd purchased the town in the height of covid and has a very interesting story to tell about the purchase of a town and the innovative ways to renovate through using as much recycled materials as possible. Re-use, recycle and restore have been the goal since purchasing the town.
