The firm was first established in 1949. The founding partner was the late Chief D.O.A Oguntoye (of the Middle Temple and the Nigerian Bar) - The Legiri of Imesi-Ile. He established the firm with his wife, the Hon. Justice D.E.A Oguntoye, OFR (also of the Middle Temple and the Nigerian Bar). In the 1950s and early 1960s, the firm was involved in sensitive political cases, land matters and civil litigation. In the late 1950s, the two partners of the firm became President, Grade 1 Customary Court of Appeal of the Western Region and Magistrate/Judge of the Lagos State High Court respectively. Hence the firm naturally went into relapse for about 30 years.
In November 2012, the firm of Oguntoye & Oguntoye was resuscitated by the present Senior Partner and son of the founders - Aderemi Oguntoye, Esq.
