Oakland Bloom (OB) is a diaspora-led non-profit working at the intersection of immigration, food and economic justice with strong roots in immigrant communities.
OB supports poor/working-class immigrant and refugee chefs to develop their craft, access income, connect to direct services, access financing and technical support, and grow their food businesses.
To advance its work to support refugee/immigrant newcomer chefs, OB works in coalition with immigrant rights, community and arts groups, serving and representing diverse immigrant communities. As an organization, OB also supports place-based organizing with working class immigrant communities, which it sees as a critical aspect of its mission toward supporting refugee chefs to thrive.
