In 1945 Emilia and Walter Arends Sr. started O.K. Lumber Company on the property now known as 'Lucky's market parking lot'. The acreage at that time went from Old County Road to Highway 101 and from American Street to Brittan Avenue. The business was founded in hopes of having a small, family owned and operated business. It has been successful and today it is still run by Emilia and Walter's children and grandchildren.
In 1964, Walter Arends Jr. and brother Robert purchased the business from their parents. They still operate it with the assistance of Walter's son, Eric, and Robert's son, Ken.
