Completion of Course Works Project
North Ryde Golf Club is fast approaching the end of a major course works project. Not only will the completion of this project alleviate the financial pressure and environmental impact associated with the Club’s current water usage (costing over $100K PA) but the James Wilcher designed course enhancements have pleased our members and will attract golfers from near and far to play the course upon completion of works.
Stage 1 of our Dams Project was opened in December 2013. This stage involved the addition of a feature dam (complete with a large fountain & lighting) which is nestled between the 9th & 17th greens. This area is proudly on display for members and guests to enjoy whilst playing the course or when utilising the facilities of the clubhouse.
Stage 2 commenced at the end of April this year with construction company Flemming Golf, due to complete construction tasks by the end of next month – October 2014. This chapter has involved major works to install a 16 mega litre dam between our 1st & 2nd greens and the relocation and expansion of what was a small pond on our 4th fairway, to the green’s side / approach to that hole.
At the end of the construction period of Stage 2, our Greens staff, headed by our Course Superintendent Ron Duffy, will work with designer James Wilcher, to complete this project. Most holes, with the exception of the 1st & 4th will be reopened by the end of October 2014 and presently, our anticipated ‘official’ opening date encompassing all aspects of the project late in January 2015.
