Established in February 2010, NexLube Operating LLC (“NexLube”) is a privately held company specializing in the production of base oils and blended lubricants through re-refining of used waste oil. Base oil is the primary substance common in most all lubricants, transmission fluids and industrial process oils. Base oil typically represents 80-90% of the finished lubricant by volume.
The first NexLube facility is located on a 12-acre site in Tampa, Florida situated in the Port Sutton area of the Port of Tampa. This deep water port provides access for used oil feedstock and product delivery by barge, highway and railroad. The construction of the Tampa facility started in July 2012. Commissioning is planned for Q4/2013 with commercial operation beginning Q1/2014.
The Tampa plant will have a processing capacity of 28 million gallons of used oil per year. Group II base oil will be produced and then further blended with additives to produce motor oils, hydraulic and transmission fluids, and industrial process oils that will be fully certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The used oil feedstock will primarily be collected by established third parties from the automotive and industrial sectors.
