HIGHLAND, UTAH. The community is buzzing about the long-awaited opening of the Newport Sports Club at the Highland Marketplace. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held January 15, 2010 with Highland City Mayor Lynn Ritchie doing the honors of cutting the ribbon with Chief Operating Officer, Rusty Owen.
“We’re very supportive of this beautiful, upscale fitness center and want our residents to fully utilize the unique services being offered at the Newport Sports Club to enhance their wellness and quality of life,” Mayor Ritchie said in a statement during the ceremony.
The interior construction of the 8,500 square foot fitness center has been furnished with cutting edge, state-of-the-art equipment from the most elite fitness equipment manufacturers in the world (TechnoGym, FreeMotion, Life Fitness, Precor & GP Industries). The club offers full cardio, free weights, group exercise classes and personal training and features an Executive Locker Room with a private shower for members. Each treadmill, elliptical trainer and bike has its own touch screen TV monitor and is iPod/iPhone ready. The club also includes an on-site child care facility.
The club appeals to residents of Highland, Alpine, Cedar Hills, Suncrest, Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove and surrounding areas.
