New Zealand Parkour - Tauhōkai Aotearoa (NZ Parkour) was created in 2010 by some of New Zealand’s most experienced and passionate traceurs/traceuses, to assist in the healthy development of our discipline and the growth of New Zealand’s parkour scene. The initial motivation was to pass on the collective knowledge of the parkour community as a means of helping to prevent new practitioners from making the mistakes a lot of us made at the beginning of our journeys, in the hope of instilling the core values and building solid foundations for the future.
In 2011, shortly after its inception, NZ Parkour became incorporated to help facilitate continual growth in a transparent community context. As time has gone by we have seen the huge positive impact that parkour has had in our own lives and in the lives of the practicing community, their friends and whanau. This inspired us to seek charitable status (which we achieved in 2013), becoming the first parkour dedicated charity in the world.
NZ Parkour continues to provide for the practicing community while concurrently using parkour’s unique life-changing traits to encourage, inspire and change peoples lives as per our mission statement.
Main purpose: Promote positive self-development, health and education through parkour in New Zealand.
Secondary purpose: Provide opportunities and support for parkour instructors, traceurs/traceuses and the public to further the above aims.
