New Jersey After 3 is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding and improving afterschool opportunities for our kids. Our vision is for all New Jersey children to have easy access to high quality, comprehensive, structured, supervised, and enriching afterschool activities.
What is New Jersey After 3?
A Statewide Network
New Jersey After 3 is a statewide network of afterschool programs operating in 115 schools and serving approximately 12,000 children and their families in urban, suburban and rural communities, this year alone.
New Jersey After 3 partners with local community organizations and public schools to expand learning time by more than 40% each school day, keeping kids safe, improving student achievement and providing an invaluable and affordable support to working families.
An Evidence-Based & Cost-Effective Model That Delivers Results
New Jersey After 3's nonprofit program partners implement a specific, evidence-based program model. A recent, independent evaluation conducted by Policy Studies Associates shows that students who participated in New Jersey After 3 programs for two years or more achieved statistically significant gains in language arts skills and demonstrated improvements in study skills, math skills and computer skills. These results are consistent with national studies that show high-quality afterschool programs improve student achievement and keep students on-track towards high school graduation.
An Innovative Public/Private Partnership
New Jersey After 3 would not be possible without critical investments from The State of New Jersey, local school districts, municipalities, Federal grants, corporations, foundations and individual donors.
To date, New Jersey After 3 and its network of partners have raised more than $35 million against the State's annual investment, delivering a rate of return since 2004 that exceeds 40%.
