Since its inception in 1969, The Nevada Watercolor Society has encouraged and promoted the advancement of watermedia in Southern Nevada.
September through May, the Society keeps its members informed with monthly meetings and a monthly newsletter, the "Desert Wash". Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Spanish Oaks Clubhouse at 7pm and are open to anyone interested. Lectures of special interest to artists as well as painting demonstrations are presented. Membership is $40 a year (and $15 for full-time students).
Several painting workshops are organized throughout the year. Beginners and advanced students benefit from the experience of nationally known artists.
The Society presents three juried exhibits each year. The Fall Show and Spring Show are open to anyone. The Signature Show is open only to NVWS Signature Members. Cash and merchandise awards are distributed to winning entries.
NVWS Membership is open to anyone. Signature membership status is bestowed on members whose work has been accepted in three NVWS shows.
