The Nevada Division of Emergency Management/Homeland Security coordinates the efforts of the State, its political subdivisions, private and volunteer organizations and tribal nations in reducing the impact of disasters by planning, developing, implementing and maintaining programs for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
The Division is a component of the Office of the Military and operates under the authority of Nevada Revised Statue 414 and is primarily governed and/or operates under the following authorities: with public safety as a priority, DEM assumes an all-hazards approach in its efforts to mitigate against, prepare, respond to, and recover from any natural manmade, technical emergencies or disasters.
